My favorite part of the Walk From Obesity was when one of my patients told me that she had never walked a single mile. She could not believe that she was able to complete the 5K. She was accompanied by members of her support group and they had made a pack to all walk together. They supported each other every step of the way. When one tired, they all slowed until they could keep pace again. It is quite an uplifting event. I tell my patients that you do what you can do, and I will be there to cheer you every step of the way. .

For six years, I have actively been involved in organizing a Walk, seeing firsthand how it brings together people from all walks of life; young, old, families and friends. While I, myself, have never experienced obesity, I have come to appreciate the many obstacles and challenges obese people face each and every day of their lives.
